I have been making wine for many years. I started with cans of juice in the early 1970's and some free plums. Then I went off traveling and getting into my teaching career. In 1981, my wife and I made raspberry, strawberry and ruhbarb wine. That fall we bought 100 lbs of Riesling grapes and 100 lbs of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from eastern Washington. The year of 2009

It is bottling time again and reflecting on the make of 2009 stock. I explore new flavors, one worth making larger quantities (strawberry) some to never to think of again (watermelon). My favorites I enjoy even though they need more age in this order blueberry, strawberry, dutchess pear, my wines are not sweetened so i like my wines towards the dry side. Played with yeast, changed water to juice ratios.A fine year for some lessons.

I would also like to thank Debbie for her Kiwi Melon Jelly. The jelly was, without a doubt, magically delicious. I'll get Jocelyn to sign up and we'll get that cabernet… Continue
